The Bluebeard Syndrome (luna-park)

2018 10 11 – 2018 11 17

‘The Blue Beard Syndrome is a new piece from Birutė, structured from separate visual and semantic components, which nevertheless are orchestrated into a meaningful whole. It intertwines diverse elements of classical techniques and conceptual projects, signs and attributes of mass culture.

This sizable piece has been evolving, expanding and morphing for a period of nearly five years, augmented by new details or new solutions of expression, prompted to the artist by her cognitive or intuitive insights.
The Blue Beard Syndrome is not a Jungian-style analysis of the Blue Beard fairy-tale. Rather, its narrative is structured on the analysis and preparation of a down-to-life female role in which the artist finds herself and probes, patiently and subtly, how she feels about it.’
